At 10:30 AM ET, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, ESQ. and AmeriCorps CEO Michael Smith will visit Civic Works Urban Lot in Baltimore, Maryland and assist AmeriCorps members in building a green space to further improve the city’s climate resiliency infrastructure.

 

 

 

 

President Biden on the Passing of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski of Indiana  

 

Jill and I are shocked and saddened by the death of Congresswoman Jackie Walorski of Indiana along with two members of her staff in a car accident today in Indiana.  

Born in her beloved South Bend as the daughter of a meat-cutter and firefighter, she spent a lifetime serving the community that she grew up in – as a journalist, a nonprofit director, a state legislator, and eventually as a Member of Congress for the past nine and half years.  

We may have represented different parties and disagreed on many issues, but she was respected by members of both parties for her work on the House Ways and Means Committee on which she served. She also served as co-chair of the House Hunger Caucus, and my team and I appreciated her partnership as we plan for a historic White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health this fall that will be marked by her deep care for the needs of rural America.  

We send our deepest condolences to her husband, Dean, to the families of her staff members, Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson, who lost their lives in public service, and to the people of Indiana’s Second District who lost a representative who was one of their own.

 

 

 

 

President Joseph Biden to Sign the Honoring Our PACT Act of 2022 ~ MONDAY, AUGUST 8, 2022  

On Monday, August 8th, the President will sign into law S. 3373, the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring our Promises to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act of 2022, and deliver remarks. This bill will expand access to VA health care and benefits for toxic exposed veterans and their survivors, improve care and increase research related to toxic exposures, and provide VA with important resources to serve veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors. This event will be convened at the White House Rose Garden in Washington, DC, USA.

 

 

 

President Joseph Biden to Sign CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 ~ TUESDAY, AUGUST 9, 2022  

On Tuesday, August 9th, the President will sign into law H.R. 4346, the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, and deliver remarks. This bill will lower the cost of everyday goods, strengthen American manufacturing and innovation, create good-paying jobs, and bolster our economic and national security. This event will be convened at the White House Rose Garden in Washington, DC, USA.
