Iran’s Missile Strikes on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq
Last night, missiles emanating from Iran deliberately struck Erbil, Iraq. "The United States strongly condemns the missile strikes on Erbil, Iraq last night that emanated from Iran. The strikes were an outrageous violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. No U.S. facilities were damaged or personnel injured, and we have no indications the attack was directed at the United States. Iran must immediately cease its attacks, respect Iraqi sovereignty, and halt its interference in Iraq’s internal affairs. The United States stands with our Iraqi partners, including in the Kurdistan Region, and will help our partners in the region defend themselves.
Twelve (12) missiles hit Erbil, some land near new U.S. consulate. The missiles caused only material damage, one civilian was injured. No damage to U.S. facilities, U.S. State Dept spokesman says. Iraqi security official says missiles were made in Iran. Iran's Revolutionary Guards has claimed responsibility for attack.

"The United States condemns in the strongest terms Iran’s missile attack on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The United States stands with Prime Minister Kadhimi and the leaders of the Kurdistan Region, President Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, in condemning this assault on the sovereignty of Iraq and its Kurdistan region. We will support the Government of Iraq in holding Iran accountable, and we will support our partners throughout the Middle East in confronting similar threats from Iran.
